About

Welcome to my blog in which I’ll record my impressions of life in Myanmar (or Burma) where I’ll be from 1 February to the end of August. I’ll be working as a volunteer for VSO, training teacher educators as part of a two-year nation-wide project organised by the British Council and the Myanmar government. The aim is to introduce interactive teaching methods and upgrade education in schools. There are currently 50 trainers, mostly from the UK, training educators in around 16 centres for teacher education around the country. I will be going to MEC (Mandalay Education College) where there are 600 student teachers, and around 100 teacher educators to be trained.

I hope you enjoy reading this and please feel free to leave any comments or ask any questions.

Apologies to my Dutch readers for writing in English but there may be some English readers who don’t speak Dutch.

Please note that the views expressed in this blog are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of VSO.
